Ecotoxicology in a rapidly changing environment

Bonnie M. Hamilton

Welcome! I am a postdoctoral fellow at Environment and Climate Change Canada, ecotoxicologist, and National Geographic Explorer based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. My research interests include the fate, transport and ecological impacts of emerging contaminants of concern. Currently, my research focuses on the environmental fate and transport of plastic pollution and their affiliated chemicals as well as how these emerging contaminants impact Northern species under a warming climate in the Central Canadian Arctic. I have a transdisciplinary approach to my research, encompassing different knowledge streams and academic disciplines through collaborations and co-creations with multiple Northern community partners. I am also an active science communicator and participate in various local, national, and international platforms geared toward youth interested in STEM. When I am not in the field, you can usually find me by the nearest body of water. If you have an idea, or wish to discuss all things ecotox/contaminant research, please reach out – I would love to hear from you!
